Import of Cannabis Vape – Korea

The client in this case was indicted by South Korean legal authorities for importing cannabis vape cartridges after asking a friend abroad to send them to the ROK. The import of cannabis to Korea is a crime punishable by a minimum of five years imprisonment, but by securing the legal experts at Pureum Law Office (PLO) for his defense, our client ended up being given a suspended sentence. The client’s immigration issue that resulted from his conviction was also successfully resolved by PLO, which allowed the client to avoid an entry ban and re-enter South Korea immediately after leaving the country.

Conclusion: The import of illegal drugs into Korea can entail punishment in the form of imprisonment and/or entry ban. In some cases, however, both can be avoided with appropriate criminal defense.
