Suspension of Imprisonment

Case study: Suspension of imprisonment for former convict – Korea

Suspension of imprisonment for former convict – Korea

The client in this case had previously been found guilty of breaking South Korean law and was sentenced to prison. Some time after his release for that crime, he was found guilty of confining a girl — whom he had met via “booking” or forced socialization — within a night club and causing bodily harm to her. As a rule, it is extremely difficult to avoid imprisonment in Korea for those with a criminal record of imprisonment. Nonetheless, the legal experts at Pureum Law Office (PLO) did the best they could to defend our client, so he ultimately was able to reach a settlement with the victim and had his sentence suspended.

Conclusion: It is possible to fight for suspension of imprisonment, even if the person had previously been convicted of a similar crime and sentenced to prison.
